There are many different types of warts that a person can develop, but by far one of the most disturbing is the black wart. A black wart, also known as a seed wart, and these are noncancerous growths that are caused by a viral infection in the top layer of the skin. Warts are typically flesh colored and rough to the touch but black warts are a dark brown or black color.

Warts can be transferred from one person to another, sometimes indirectly. Some people get warts and others don’t. Sometimes the warts will go away on their own and other times you will need to use an appropriate method of treatment to help get rid of them.

Causes

There are actually a few different possible causes of a black wart. The human papillomavirus is one of the most common causes of these and most other types of warts, and this is a virus that that attacks the skin through direct contact. You can get the contact by touching a towel or other object that has been held by a person with the warts.

A few of other possible causes include the use of public showers, weakened immune system because of certain drugs used or illness, and skin trauma, to name a few.

Signs and Symptoms

There are also many signs and symptoms that you may notice at the onset of a black wart. This includes anything from small, fleshy, grainy bumps, rough surface and well defined borders, an abnormally dark or light skin surrounding an area of the skin, and the feel of a lump somewhere on the body.

Treatment

Finally of course there is the treatment that you will have to get for your black wart. Again there are several options, and the treatment that should be used really depends on the location of the wart as well as on how long it has been there for.

A person’s age and health, gender, and willingness to follow through with a particular treatment all also play a major role. Salicylic acid is one of the most commonly used treatments, and is applied directly onto the wart. Usually after a couple of treatments the wart will be completely gone but this is not always the case and further treatment is often needed.

Cryotherapy is a more serious and often more effective treatment method for removing warts, and involves the use of liquid nitrogen to literally freeze the wart so that it dies off.
