Natural Skin Care Treatments For Acne, Psoriasis And Eczema

Published by Author under Skin Care

Natural skin care treatments have been around for a long time. The key to many of the natural skin care treatments for acne, psoriasis and eczema is honey.

Acne

Central to honey’s effectiveness in treating acne is its antimicrobial agents.  Antimicrobial agents inhibit the growth of bacteria, a key factor in acne outbreaks.  Using honey as a natural skin care treatment for acne does not produce dry skin, as many of the over-the-counter remedies do.  Honey also absorbs impurities from the skin pores, which is another factor in acne outbreaks.

One natural skin care treatment, which uses honey for acne flare-ups, is to mix ½ cup warm water with ¼ teaspoon salt.  Apply directly to the blemish by using a cotton ball.  Apply pressure and leave on for several minutes, and then with a cotton swab apply a small amount of honey.  Allow the honey to dry for 10 to 12 minutes, then rinse off and pat dry.

Psoriasis And Eczema

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disorder which results in thick red areas covered with silvery scales, often on the scalp, elbows, knees and back.  It is believed that part of the immune system is triggered to produce and abnormal build up of skin cells. Eczema is a chronic inflammatory skin disorder that causes dry, itchy patches on the skin.  Usually these are found on the face, knees, elbows, and hands and feet.

The Bastyr Center for Natural Health recently completed a study, which treated these two skin disorders with a natural skin care treatment of a mixture of honey, olive oil and beeswax.  Eighty percent of the patients in the Bastyr study showed dramatic improvements in their skin conditions after using the mixture of honey, olive oil and beeswax.

Honey and olive oil have ample quantities of anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that help decrease pain, reduce scaring and lead to faster healing.  Beeswax, is often used in natural skin care treatments for burns and other skin conditions, also has loads of anti-inflammatory properties.

The study concluded that a natural combination of honey, olive oil and beeswax can provide a real benefit to people suffering from eczema and psoriasis.  The study goes on to recommend that this natural skin care mixture be included in future treatments.

Natural skin care treatments such as honey, olive oil, beeswax, jojoba, shea butter and coconut oil have been proven to relieve symptoms of acne, eczema and psoriasis.  Are they in your medicine cabinet?   Should they be?

Facial Skin Care Tips For Every Skin Type

Published by Author under Skin Care

Flick through any women’s magazine, and there is a minefield of information about facial skin care tips, how to make the most of your complexion, what to do, what not to do and what products to use if you want your skin to look good. The problem is that the accuracy of much of this information depends entirely on your skin type. What constitutes a good skin care routine varies hugely from person to person, and, more generally, between different skin types. Listed below are facial skin care tips for the three main skin types (dry, oily and combination) as well as blemishes.

Dry Skin

The best facial skin care tip for dry skin is to moisturize, moisturize and moisturize! Whether you use a store bought product or a natural one you’ve whipped up at home, the importance of moisturizing cannot be emphasized enough. In between dry winds, air-conditioning, sun and the rest, your skin will take a battering if you don’t. The ideal situation, however, would be to prevent the problem from occurring in the first place. Drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses per day, more if you’re very active), protect your skin from the elements as much as possible and add olive oil to your bathwater if you like relaxing in the tub. It’s also wise to avoid making your bath or shower water too hot, as this will also dry out the skin. The absolute best thing you can do to avoid drying skin is to avoid smoking and excessive caffeine or alcohol.

Oily Skin

Toning lotion is a necessity for oily skin, as it helps close the pores. Astringents are generally regarded as the best type to use on oily skin, as they do the best job of eradicating excess oil from the skin. In addition, keeping a bowl of water in the fridge during the day and splashing your face periodically will also improve the condition of your skin. With oily skin it’s a good idea to exfoliate at least twice, if not three times, per week. This stops oil and bacteria from building up, clogging pores and causing unsightly breakouts.

Combination Skin

While cleansing and toning is necessary, using harsher products than you absolutely need to will only lead to dried out skin or clogged pores. Another facial skin care tip is to use harsher products like astringents strictly for problems such as pimples. Exfoliate twice per week, as doing so more or less often can strip the skin of oils or else cause them to build up.

Blemishes

If your skin is prone to blemishes, keep it clean using gentle products (natural skin care products are best) that won’t irritate it any more than it already is. Avoid heavy make-up, and once again avoid toxins such as caffeine, nicotine and alcohol that may only make the problem worse.

Whether your skin is oily, dry, blemished or a combination, using these facial skin care tips can help take the guesswork out of looking after your skin. Something as simple as knowing which toner to use, or how often to exfoliate your skin, can make all the difference in terms of you looking your best.

Where To Find Skin Care Beauty Tips

Published by Author under Skin Care

Have you recently looked in the mirror and thought that your skin could use something? Maybe it’s too dry, too oily or maybe you have a few pimples or acne. What you need are some good skin care beauty tips. Even if you’re a man, skin care beauty tips can do wonders for your complexion and how you feel about yourself. It used to be that women were the only ones who sought out skin care beauty tips but those days are long gone. So where can you find good skin care beauty tips? You can find them in magazines, you can ask the associates at your local drug or department store or you can talk to a dermatologist. However, in today’s information age, there’s literally nothing that you cannot find on the internet. So log on and see how many skin care beauty tips you can find. You’ll love what these tips do to your skin.

All Natural Products

The best skin care beauty tips are ones that use common household items and ones that use all natural ingredients. If a product has too many chemicals in it, it’s not really going to be good for your skin. In fact, no matter how many promises they print on the container, you could end up doing more harm than good. Natural beauty skin care products are made from plant materials, and other organic compounds. Pay attention to these types of skin care beauty tips as these are the ones that will do the best job for your skin care needs.

Home Remedies

Again, the best skin care beauty tips are ones that you can do right at home using common household items. An example of one is a face mask that can be used to get rid of a pimple. You have a date or a job interview and you see a pimple coming in. You can halt that pimple from forming by following this simple home remedy skin care beauty tip. Take five aspirin and grind them into a find powder. Add a few drops of hot water and a tad bit of aloe vera. Stir the mixture until it turns into a thick paste. Rub the paste on your face and leave it for about ten minutes. When the paste dries, it will begin to flake off. That’s when you want to take a washcloth and, with warm water, rub gently until your face is clean. This will exfoliate your skin, it will clear your pores and, if you repeat the process often enough, that pimple will hopefully disappear just in time for your special occasion.

For more skin care beauty tips, pick up the latest fashion magazine, men’s magazine, ask the associates at the department store skin care department or at the drug store or just look them up online. When you have a list of good skin care beauty tips, you’ll feel great about yourself because you’ll know you look your best.

Learn What It Takes To Get Proper Acne Prone Skin Care

Published by Author under Skin Care

Most people equate acne with teenagers and those who are just starting to experience puberty though the truth of the matter is that acne can affect anyone regardless of their age. Thus, people who have never suffered from acne during their teens will suddenly find that they have developed the condition in their early twenties. Typically, acne means breakouts and numerous pimples and though it generally affects the face and back, it can occur in any part of the body as well.

If you are looking for acne prone skin care you would need to do something about the oil-producing glands that when combined with bacteria can lead to dead skin cells and blocking of pores in the skin and consequent swelling.

Removal Of Scars

Acne prone skin care is also required when bumps begin to form and then turn into whiteheads and blackheads or which remain as pure bumps (red in color) and are very tender. To be sure, you would need to use acne prone skin care to remove the scars. The acne can affect the skin to a great depth and thus lead to formation of nodules and cysts that after having been healed leave behind ugly scars.

Some of the factors that contribute to acne include stress, fatigue and humid conditions and so you will have to forego using chemicals on your face, as these could cause further irritation to the skin that can do the opposite of preventing acne from developing on your skin. What’s more, acne prone skin care may also require taking medications that will treat acne, though these treatments must only be used on the recommendations of a doctor or dermatologist. Among the many options with regard to getting proper acne prone skin care success, you can include getting your treatment done by professionals who will be able to make the proper prognosis and then recommend appropriate medications to relieve the acne condition.

Second off, acne prone skin care also requires that you abstain from taking things into your own hands and thus it is never a good thing to squeeze the pimples because that can cause a spreading of the infection and lead to further acne breakouts.

Finally, you need to also forego using chemicals that contain too much oil in them. Because acne prone skin is already quite oily, any further oily inputs will create a bigger problem and so when using make-up opt for water-based products.

Certainly, when it also concerns anti acne skin care you will only find a suitable treatment after having consulting a doctor who will be able to determine which treatment is best for you. By also following a skin care specialist’s advice you will be able to get quicker and more effective relief and so be able to remove your acne in the most efficient manner possible.

Natural Organic Skin Care: Skin Like Cleopatra

Published by Author under Skin Care

Sometimes the old ways are the best ways.  Not everything that man has invented with our superior intellect has proven to be good for the planet on the large scale and for our skin on the smaller scale. The secrets of beautiful, radiant skin did not die with Cleopatra, the ancient Egyptian temptress and leader.  Of course, Cleopatra didn’t think of her skin regime as natural or organic skin care.  All skin care was natural and organic in Cleopatra’s day.

Egypt is known as the land of milk and honey and for good reason.  Milk and honey were at the core of Cleopatra’s skin care regime. Milk and honey have superb antimicrobial and cleansing properties.  When used together these properties are even further enhanced.

Acne

Antimicrobial agents prevent the growth of bacteria.  Bacteria need water. Honey, which is high in sugar, severely limits the amount of water available to the bacteria.  Another essential for bacteria growth is nitrogen.  The low protein content and low acidity of honey, deprives the bacteria its food.  What does bacteria mean to the skin? Bacteria are the number one cause of acne. A honey-based natural organic skin care ointment is an excellent treatment for minor acne flare-ups and doesn’t dry out the skin. In addition, honey absorbs impurities from the pores of the skin, another plus for acne sufferers.

Make a honey cleanser by mixing one-tablespoon honey with two tablespoons ground almonds, and ½ teaspoon of lemon juice. Dampen your face first, then rub mixture on your face and rinse with warm water.  It is the perfect natural organic skin care cleanser.

Moisturizer

From the days of Cleopatra to the Middle Ages and from our American pioneers until today, milk and honey combinations are at the core of natural organic skin care and in particular, natural organic moisturizes.  Honey, which is high in antioxidants, offers protections against premature aging, skin damage and skin cancer. Yes, sometimes the old ways are the best ways.  Milk and honey was Cleopatra’s natural skin care treatment of choice, and today it is becoming the skin care preference of people around the world.

A good natural and organic moisturizer for skin care is made from two tablespoons milk and two tablespoons honey.  Smooth the mixture over your face and throat, then allow it to dry for ten minutes. Rinse off the mixture with warm water.

For all over body moisturizing add ¼ cup honey and ¼ cup milk to a warm bath and soak.  You’ll be amazed at the smoothness and radiance of your skin after the bath.

Skin Care Facial Masks You Can Make At Home

Published by Author under Skin Care

Taking care of your face is extremely important, yet it’s something that many people neglect to do effectively. The sheer range of products available on the market is enough to confuse even the most ardent skin-care connoisseur, not to mention the cost of many of them.  A good skin-care routine (including facial masks, cleansing, toning and moisturizing) need not be complicated or expensive however. Facial masks in particular are easy to make at home using ingredients that are, in many cases, readily available in your fridge or pantry. These recipes for facial masks will make skin care easy, affordable and a real treat.

Strawberry Cleansing Mask

This mask will draw impurities out of your skin, making it feel refreshed. Simply mix a ½ cup of ripe strawberries with a ¼ cup of cornstarch and apply it to your face and leave on for 30 minutes, avoiding your eye area. Then simply rinse away.

Peach Pore-Tightener

Blending one ripe peach with an egg white and applying it to your face for 30 minutes is an excellent natural way to tighten and close the pores on your face.

Orange Oily-Skin Mask

This very simple mask is an effective way to draw excess oil out of the skin and improve your complexion. Squeeze an orange into a bowl, and add enough flour to make a fairly thick paste to spread across your face. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes before washing it off.

Avocado Moisture Mask

Re-hydrate your skin by mashing the flesh of a ripe avocado with a dash of olive oil, and applying it to your face. This skin care facial mask is particularly good to use when the weather is dry and windy.

The above recipes are only a few examples of literally hundreds of facial masks that you can make. Other commonly used ingredients include cucumber (for its soothing and clarifying properties), pineapple, apple (for potassium), natural yogurt and oatmeal (to gently soothe your skin).

One of the biggest advantages of using homemade facial masks in your skin-care routine is that you know exactly what you’re putting on your skin. With commercially available beauty products, it can be hard to know exactly what’s in them, and how your skin will react. Tied in with this is the cost factor. If your skin reacts badly to a homemade mask, you can simply not make it again, or find a different recipe. If the same thing happens with a store-bought product, you’ve blown your money. Another big advantage of making your own facial skin care masks is the element of variety. It’s much easier, cheaper and more interesting to experiment with different homemade masks than it is to buy different beauty products!

If you keep these facial skin care tips in mind, taking care of your face can be deliciously cheap and simple. Smooth, clear and hydrated skin needn’t be more than a walk to your refrigerator away!

Why Is Everyone So Concerned With Skin Care And Make Up?

Published by Author under Skin Care

You don’t have to turn on the TV for very long to see at least one commercial sporting the latest skin care and make up products. Everywhere you look, you have models rubbing creams on their faces, putting lotion on their arms and legs, rubbing blush on their cheeks or putting eye liner around their eyes. The world, and western culture especially, is obsessed with skin care and make up. Where does this obsession come from and is it healthy?

The Media

The media has a fascination with perfection. Or rather, it has a fascination with the illusion of perfection. Models are paid a lot of money to advertise the latest skin care and make up products. People see these models on TV, in magazines and in the movies and they want to look just like them. Even though most people will never look like a model, that doesn’t stop them from buying the latest skin care and make up products and following the latest skin care beauty tips so that they can try to look like these models who push the illusion of perfection.

Is It Healthy?

Is this obsession with perfection healthy? Well, it’s always good to take care of your skin and many of the skin care and make up products are actually good for your skin. They moisturize, they clear your pores and they can help you feel and look better. However, when skin care and make up becomes so much of an obsession that you spend most of your money on it, that’s when it can become unhealthy and a problem. You should always find a healthy balance in everything and that includes skin care and make up.

Love Yourself For Who You Are

It’s good to take care of yourself with skin care and make up products but understand that you may never look like the models on TV. That’s because even the models themselves are typically covered in make up and they may even be photo shopped. You’d be amazed to see some of those models on the street. They may look just like you. However, when they’re done up with the latest skin care and make up products, and they have special lighting on them and they have been photo shopped, they look perfect and that’s what pushes the products into the minds and the shopping carts of many hopeful consumers who want so badly to look perfect like they do.
