Lip Wrinkles – How to Reduce Them

Published by Jennifer at 4:37 am under Wrinkles

Lip wrinkles fall into the category of wrinkles known as dynamic wrinkles, which are known to the public as frown lines and smile lines. They are typically more difficult to reduce than most of the other varieties of wrinkles. These types of wrinkles appear around your eyes, your forehead and your lips. They occur due to the facial skin folding in the same procedure every time we smile or frown or laugh. There are a variety of ways to reduce your dynamic wrinkles including lip wrinkles. Realize that these treatments and products can reduce your dynamic wrinkles but only on a temporary basis.

Laser Treatments

Utilizing lasers to reduce facial wrinkles has become very popular. The CO2 laser reduces facial wrinkles by removing skin cells that have become damaged. When your skin is recuperating from the laser surgery new skins cells are produced and gives your skin a tighter, smoother looking appearance. The Cool Touch Laser will cause your skin to produce collagen which will give your skin a smooth look. The laser can penetrate your skin to activate collagen production without causing any harm to your skin. CO2 laser treatments seem to be the best form of laser treatments for lip wrinkles and other types of dynamic wrinkles.

Dermabrasion

This treatment involves a device that includes a powered burr that has the ability to remove superficial facial skin with a procedure that is quite similar to sanding. After the unwanted skin is removed other skin cells come to the surface which will provide a smoother look to your skin. Most plastic surgeons prefer using laser treatments instead of Dermabrasion.

Botox

Botox has been shown to significantly improve lip wrinkles as well as other types of dynamic wrinkles. Since the constant repetitions of facial expressions are a primary cause of wrinkles, Botox is very effective because it has the ability to weaken those muscles that cause facial expressions. These muscles have temporarily lost some strength but this won’t affect the appearance of your facial expressions.

Collagen for Lip Wrinkles

Derma fillers such as collagen are successful in reducing lip wrinkles by the process of lifting up the skin within the wrinkles and reducing the shadow. The surgeon uses thin needles to inject the derma fillers such as collagen and hyaluronic acid into your skin. There is basically no recovery time required for these treatments.

Chemical Peels for Lip Wrinkles

A phenol chemical peel is a variety of a deep chemical peel and is superior in removing wrinkles when compared to other types of peels or lasers or Dermabrasion. You just need to have one procedure and some experts’ state that the results can be around for decades. However a significant disadvantage for using the phenol peel is that the procedure will cause your skin to turn an unwanted white color which is irreversible and does not give the treated areas a natural appearance. There are numerous procedures and products that can help you reduce your lip wrinkles and other varieties of wrinkles and you should discuss the options with your dermatologist or plastic surgeon.
